BE......ANYWAY!

                     MOTHER TERESA...A CATHOLIC NUN

I do not know much about Mother Teresa but I do remember her always being well spoken of and how she devoted her life to others.  I am sure there is a book or two about her and one of my goals this year is to read one of them and learn more about this exceptional woman.  What I do know is she was an instrument in the hands of God...this is a woman worth knowing more about, emulating her ways as they are Christ's ways.

I recently found the following post and the following words have been attributed to her.  I would like to share it with you:

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-
        centered.  Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish,
        ulterior motives.  Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful
friends and some genuine enemies.  Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.
       Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy
       overnight.  Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be
       jealous.   Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten.
       Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.
       Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God.  It was
never between you and them anyway.
                                                                   Mother Teresa

IT IS GOING TO SNOW.....AGAIN!

Oh how I wish I had some pictures of snow to post. But then I think...let everyone tell me some snow stories!!
I vividly remember one that will make you think I am a little nuts...I am...and it was on a New Years Eve..the ground was covered in deep snow.  I had heard that on New Year's Eve that just after the stroke of midnight and it was now January 1st,  you were to walk around the outside of your home, banging a pan with a metal spoon and at the same time chanting something like, "Happy New Year and a great year it is going to be."  Do you think I could get any of my family to do this with me.  No...they stayed in the nice warm, dry house and let me face the elements alone.  I know they were shocked when I came into the house and my face was glowing, red, and cold but I felt refreshed.  I am sure the neighbors for miles in our country area could hear the loud banging of the pan and spoon...sound carries at night.  Don't ask me if it was a good year...just cannot remember!  Also...I never did it again!  I could walk in those days and pick my feet and legs up like a drum major leading the band.  I smile when I think about it.  Crazy?  Sure!  Memorable?  You bet!
Tonight we are expecting more snow...are you ready?  Might want to get to the grocery store today, stock your pantry and then just enjoy the rest of the week with the beautiful blanket of white outside our homes.
I would love to hear your snow stories...email me if you cannot leave a message here.  Email address is hisnhirz@scml.us

Mimi's Thought for the Day:    I like to remember when it snows that the snow is a protective blanket for the dryland wheat farmer's wheat.  If it did not have the "blanket" the wheat would freeze and die in our cold temperatures of the winter.  Picturing that in my mind also makes me think that God has given each of us, His children, a nice blanket to protect us...His "word" keeps us safe and warm; His love surrounds us and comforts us.  We are indeed safe from the "elements" if we stay "grounded" and let Him do His work.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011 & IT IS VERY FROSTY AND COLD!!

A very good morning to all of you.  It is 12:30 AM...I stayed up all by my lonesome just to change my blog design from Christmas to the wintry look of January...plus to say HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!

I have already got so many plans made for sewing, quilting, going through genealogy and weeding out boxes of data.

I am planning on experiencing lots of "firsts" this year...I love it when I can experience a "first time moment" at my age!

I have set some goals..one of which is to start on Christmas gifts NOW!  I want to get a camera and do some photography of outdoor scenes.

I want to try a new recipe each week.

Oh me..oh my...I am just excited about all the possibilities of doing better, feeling better and enjoying each precious day to the fullest.

The years continue to quickly move on...then it was 1973 and in the blink of an eye it is 2011. Children grown, gray hair is our crown, empty nest is our home, but in 38 years we have  enjoyed the past, look forward to the future and love today with it's promise of "all is well".

Share with me your plans for your today's and your tomorrow's---
