LOVE THIS THOUGHT

I am sure that many of you read online the blog from Your Homebased Mom.  Today she sent out a writing by the author Leo Buscaglia and it goes as follows:

"The majority of us lead quiet, unheralded lives as we pass through this world.
There will most likely be no ticker-tape parades for us, no moments created in our honor.

But that does not lessen our possible impact, for there are scores of people waiting for someone just like us to come along; people who will appreciate our compassion, our unique talents.
Someone who will live a happier life merely because we took the time to share what we had to give.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have a potential to turn a life around.

It's overwhelming to consider the continuous opportunities there are to make our love felt".

What a profound statement this is.  What say you?

FRIDAYS ARE THE BEST

How can a person love a day of the week?  Oh, it is easy.  Each day of the week represents something to me that makes that day special, but Fridays are THEE best day of the work week.  I think it must come from all these years spent in school.  When Fridays rolled around I had more of a spring in my step throughout the day and knew when the final bell rung on each Friday afternoon that I was FREE to do what I wanted....like sleep in a little bit on Saturday mornings!

When I got to be older and a momma of several children I looked forward to Fridays and actually gave it a name......WOMAN'S DAY!  I usually took my mother-in-law and sometimes father-in-law tagged along with me to town.  This went on for 19 years.  Once in awhile they did not go...but that was rare...and so I would go to lunch with a friend or window shop...you know the feeling I am sure.

Today I am usually at home 24/7, but when Fridays come I still feel the exhilarating feeling I had when I was in school and the also the feelings I got when I could take my in-laws to the doctor, church (she was Catholic and liked to go to Friday mass) and grocery shopping.   All that is in the past now, but one thing that is still constant.....I get to sleep in on Saturday mornings.

Come to think of it....I can sleep in any morning now.  Oh life is good!

What is your favorite day of the week?   Why?

FUN WITH NAMES

I have been doing genealogy for decades and between Ned and I we have some pretty funny sounding names.   I decided to tell you a little story about some of them:

Once upon a time there was a COOK who sometimes put BLOOD in his recipes.  He was quite the BREWER as he would look in a COFFIN for what he needed. Sometimes he would not find the WRIGHT color and so he would use BROWN.  He would CRAM it into the recipes and hope that no PITTS would be found.  When he was DUNN  which was none too EARLEY, he would share it with many HOLMES in the area and even sent some to the POPE and quaranteed that it was the real MCCOY.

The End

Okay...I know...I think I must be desperate in writing on my blog.  Just as a challenge why don't YOU try this in Family Home Evening. Make up a story about some of your surnames.  It will get your family laughing and learning at the same time.  Make it fun.  Prize for the most original; for the funniest; for the most clever, etc.  Just have fun.
