SURPRISE! SURPRISE!

For some reason, I just knew I was not to go any place this evening. I felt lousy all day so that meant I could not go with Ned to Wenatchee to see our granddaughter Chayla play in her last Big Bend College basketball game....plus our ward Young Men and Young Women were putting on a Sweetheart Dinner for all the "oldsters" of our ward.

I just could not go to either. I saw a car drive up...but that is nothing new around here. We have family living all around us, plus 3 college girls in our cottage.

I was contently sitting in my recliner, relaxing and trying to forget my aches and pains when I heard the back door open and close. Hmmm...who could that be...Bruce was at game, Craig was still out working on farm, Scott had Bishopric meeting plus YM/YW, Mark lives in Tri-Cities, Brad is in California....it just had to be Julie coming to visit.

I suddenly heard "Hi Mom"and there I saw my firstborn child...Brad...standing there. I was shocked. He came over and hugged me and said, "how is mamasan?"

I could hardly talk but once I got over the surprise and shock you could not stop me from talking...poor guy. I am most thankful I stayed home after all. He is here to stay for quite a few months working his land, our land and all the custom work.

I was expecting him the middle of March and so got caught with his room undone, boxes from the basement upstairs for me to go through, etc.

Welcome home my dear son. May you find peace and contentment in knowing you are surrounded by your family. Good times are ahead. Being so surprised and laughing, etc., I soon forgot about my aches and pains. Surprises are good medicine.

Mimi's Thought for the Day: God has many surprises in store for us. Will you be prepared or will you be thinking you have time for this and that? Surprise! Surprise!

YOUR HANDS

While doing some genealogy research last night I came across a quote that had profound effect on me. I want to share it with you.

"If you look deeply into the palm of your hand, you will see your parents and all generations of your ancestors. All of them are alive in this moment. Each is present in your body. You are the continuation of each of these people." quote by: Thich Nhat Hanh

Will I ever look at my hands the same again? No, not in the same way, but I will have a deeper more abiding respect and love for those who came before me. I will feel their presence in my research, urging me on to keep at it and also feel them with me at the Temple. They are me and I am them

Mimi's Thought for the Day: May our hands reach out daily to those who need us...on this side and the side unseen but felt and ever so near to us.

GOD SENT AN ANGEL TO MY HOME

Last night while preparing dinner I heard someone knocking at my back door. I quickly went, opened the door and there stood a smiling beautiful angel. In her precious hands she held a potted pink azalea...absolutely gorgeous. I invited this angel into my home, to sit and talk and feel her lovely, gracious spirit. She is the kind of angel everyone should have in their life. She did not judge me...I do enough of that and do it harshly...she instead lifted me and showed me her love and at the same time God's love. After she left I continued feeling her spirit brought into my home. She left behind HOPE, LOVE, SMILES, LAUGHTER AND ENCOURAGEMENT.

I have a wonderful friend by the name of Jeanette Jones. Jeanette is so talented and very busy. She raised a large family, then proceeded to get a college education a few years ago and is now a CPA for our city. She and her husband are Temple workers; and they teach, very successfully I might add, the marriage class in our ward. She is so talented in many areas: quilting, sewing, canning, food storage....I could go on and on. There is one of her attributes that stands out and that is she is very Christ-like in her ways and she shows it in her teaching, her service to God and others and also she.....more often than not..... is an angel.

An angel on a mission to bring HOPE, LOVE, SMILES, LAUGHTER AND ENCOURAGEMENT to people like me. Thank you Jeanette from the bottom of my heart. You made my day, my week....I am still smiling.

Mimi's Thought for the Day: How many times a day do you get a prompting to get "in touch" with someone who needs you? Do you act on it? Be an angel and help God help those who need a lift, a smile, a touch....especially they need YOURS!

RYAN...A LIVING MIRACLE

Ten years ago came into our lives this beautiful healthy looking little boy...a most welcomed child into the home of my daughter Julie, her husband and an older sister and brother for Ryan. But the day after he was born Julie noticed that he was not the same acting baby as he was the day before. No one at the hospital would listen to her until a change of shifts came on and the new nurse listened intently and examined the baby and agreed. The doctor was notified and to make a long story short the doctor had Ryan quickly sent by helicopter to Spokane Sacred Heart Hospital. It was a scary and frightening time for all of us. Ryan had a blockage and it took about 2 days to get him unblocked in his intestinal track. On his eighth day of life he had surgery for the doctors had found a disease that we never had heard of called Hirschsprungs Disease. They had to cut out the part of his colon that had no nerve cells, rebuild a vital part of his body that did not have nerve cells either and then we hoped for the best. He and his mother lived at the hospital for over two weeks where Julie nursed him and stayed by his side. After they came home Julie had to continue for many, many months the special care this little guy needed so that everything would work as it should. She was told that this condition may slow down his growth for awhile, that he may have other problems, etc. We are just so very thankful that he did not have to have a "bag" and wear one for the rest of his life.
I would like to "report" that Ryan is one of the most wonderful little boys God ever sent to earth. His intelligence is huge. He is taller than most boys his age...his growth was not affected at all. He is one of the most polite and nicest boys you would ever want to meet. Today is his 10th birthday and he is a typical healthy happy boy who loves sports, teases (and loves) his older sister and brother, adores his mother and father, and is kind to everyone he meets. Go to his house and he will treat you like a king or queen. He will welcome you, seat you, get you something to drink, sit and talk with you. His manners are impeccable and a joy to see.
You would like Ryan because he has you as the most important person in his life at that moment. He will take care of you. His spirit is warm and good and he is a boy you will be inspired with. He will melt your heart as his spirit communicates with yours.
I am so very thankful to have Ryan in my life. He is one of my "little" boys who will reach about 6'5" one day...I hope and pray that I can be here to see that happen to this child who almost did not get to stay with us on earth. I hope you get to meet Ryan one day and see this tender, beautiful child as he walks the paths of life. We thank God for Julie's intuition and that she listened to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and did not give up and also the nurse's listening ear and the good doctor who got him to a major hospital in time to save his life
HAPPY IOth BIRTHDAY RYAN. YOU ARE SUCH A GREAT BLESSING TO ALL WHO KNOW YOU AND LOVE YOU AND ARE LOVED BY YOU.

Mimi's Thought for the Day: Listen to that sweet prompting that comes to you...it may be that of calling someone, sending a card, visiting, sharing, reaching out in some way. Who knows...you too may not only save a life physically, but emotionally and spiritually. God's plan is for us to care for one another so listen to your promptings and ACT ON THEM TODAY!
