RYAN...A LIVING MIRACLE

Ten years ago came into our lives this beautiful healthy looking little boy...a most welcomed child into the home of my daughter Julie, her husband and an older sister and brother for Ryan. But the day after he was born Julie noticed that he was not the same acting baby as he was the day before. No one at the hospital would listen to her until a change of shifts came on and the new nurse listened intently and examined the baby and agreed. The doctor was notified and to make a long story short the doctor had Ryan quickly sent by helicopter to Spokane Sacred Heart Hospital. It was a scary and frightening time for all of us. Ryan had a blockage and it took about 2 days to get him unblocked in his intestinal track. On his eighth day of life he had surgery for the doctors had found a disease that we never had heard of called Hirschsprungs Disease. They had to cut out the part of his colon that had no nerve cells, rebuild a vital part of his body that did not have nerve cells either and then we hoped for the best. He and his mother lived at the hospital for over two weeks where Julie nursed him and stayed by his side. After they came home Julie had to continue for many, many months the special care this little guy needed so that everything would work as it should. She was told that this condition may slow down his growth for awhile, that he may have other problems, etc. We are just so very thankful that he did not have to have a "bag" and wear one for the rest of his life.
I would like to "report" that Ryan is one of the most wonderful little boys God ever sent to earth. His intelligence is huge. He is taller than most boys his age...his growth was not affected at all. He is one of the most polite and nicest boys you would ever want to meet. Today is his 10th birthday and he is a typical healthy happy boy who loves sports, teases (and loves) his older sister and brother, adores his mother and father, and is kind to everyone he meets. Go to his house and he will treat you like a king or queen. He will welcome you, seat you, get you something to drink, sit and talk with you. His manners are impeccable and a joy to see.
You would like Ryan because he has you as the most important person in his life at that moment. He will take care of you. His spirit is warm and good and he is a boy you will be inspired with. He will melt your heart as his spirit communicates with yours.
I am so very thankful to have Ryan in my life. He is one of my "little" boys who will reach about 6'5" one day...I hope and pray that I can be here to see that happen to this child who almost did not get to stay with us on earth. I hope you get to meet Ryan one day and see this tender, beautiful child as he walks the paths of life. We thank God for Julie's intuition and that she listened to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and did not give up and also the nurse's listening ear and the good doctor who got him to a major hospital in time to save his life
