The month of August is a great month:
1. Garden is producing
2. Son Scott and his son Kyle have birthdays 2 days apart.
3. Harvesting of wheat is going on the whole month and more.
4. Grandchildren getting ready to start school on the 31st.
5. Grant County Fair during the middle of August
6. Anniversary of Scott and his wife Mindi
I could go on and on. But I have to mention some UNUSUAL happenings of this August of 2011.
Daughter Julie and children went in June to Germany to be with her husband Don who is stationed in the military. They had an incredible two months touring Germany, riding a bullet train to Paris and London, also going to Rome, visiting the homeland of the Hirz ancestors in Rimhorn. Julie happened to find a woman who was acquainted with the history of the town and had written two books on it. It was a moment in time that happened to be a blessing. We now have someone to do research for us. Julie and children came home Monday evening...now they are trying to adjust to the 9 hour time difference and also adjust to the absence of the color GREEN that was so pronounced in Germany. Moses Lake looks very brown and dry compared to where they have been. We sure missed them and glad they were able to experience such a fantastic trip.
Another thing that happened was the graduation from college of our first grandchild...Brent. He graduated from BYU in Provo with his Bachelors degree. He took time out to serve a mission, get married, worked so he could support his wife while she finished her education. She is now a teacher in the schools in Provo.
The last great happening in the month of August was the announcement of our grandson Brent and his wife Carolyn Jackson, the daughter of Scott and Chandra Jackson, that we are going to have our first great grandchild about January 14th!!!!!! It is a _______!!!!!! Now you know where my thoughts are. Quilting...sewing....baby clothes....I am so excited. At last I am going to be a great grandmother. Yippee!!! Can't believe my son Mark and his sweet wife Kelly are going to be grandparents.
Pardon me...I should settle down here and act my age.
Hope to post some pictures of Brent and Carolyn soon.
Hope your month of August was a special one too.
